EP68 – John Spanton & Harry Wiffen discuss growing a career in hairdressing

Mar 16, 2021
John Spanton & Harry Wiffen are colleagues at Trevor Sorbie International, working in central London together. They join Respectfully host Nicky Pope to talk about what it’s like today to be training and growing a career in hairdressing. John qualified nearly 20 years ago, and Harry in 2018 so their experience of opportunities, mentoring and support provided varies tremendously. This entertaining and interesting conversation looks at what has changed for better or worse.
With the pressure of social media and the drive to create a personal brand from the off, it’s tough for trainees in hairdressing in the 2020s. But equally, 20 years ago, trainees were treated as personal assistants to their mentors, and were expected to work as cleaners and extra staff in the salon arguably more than they are today. Listen in and let us know what you think?
